3D Star: Shape Layer Preset

I've been playing around with Shape Layers a LOT lately-- figuring out how they work in the grand scheme of things.  They are more than just shapes, and I'll be demonstrating some of their power at the January meeting of the Dallas After Effects User Group on Jan 26th, 2012.

3D Star.ffx is a preset that is sort of the result of my experimentation with making easy-to-use snowflakes out of shape layers. I'm always interested in shapes that are difficult to achieve and how to hack the system to make those shapes more accessible.  That is mumbo jumbo for "it was killing me that I had such a hard time making that star shape in Illustrator."

INSTALLATION & USE: Download the preset and drop it in your After Effects/Presets folder.  Then reset the Effects & Presets panel, search 3D Star, and double click the 3D Star preset.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone!  It's time to get back to your local After Effects User Group.  And if you live in Dallas, it's going to be a great year!

This month we'll be taking another adventure with power of Shape Layers and checking out demo reels from our group members.
